Lots of Changes

Hello everyone!

Well a lot has happened since I last posted. Our shop in Mt Wellington, Auckland has now closed and our family and shop and relocated to Hamilton. We are now trading under the new name of 'The Shabby Rose'. We are in a quaint little house in Claudelands not far from the Showgrounds.

I'm really enjoying my new lifestyle as we have brought a couple of acres out in the Rototuna area and life just seems to run at a slower pace down here which is a really nice change.

Lots of exciting things happening at the shop! Meeting all sorts of new customers, new staff, starting classes and of course yummy new products coming into the store.

This week we go in Amy Butler's NEW patterns and I just ordered a lot of her Soul Blossom's range which has finally landed in NZ. On top of this loads of other beautiful fabrics plus some new line's from Tanya Whelan and a couple of new designers.

Well, that's it for now but on my next post I will show you the cutest fabrics we got in yesterday from Riley Blake Designs, super cute I can see little girls dresses, skirts etc. Will take a photo today.

Amy Butler Projects

Ok, visiting Amy's gorgeous website is far too dangerous! Every time I become totally inspired and fall in love once again with her fabric stories. All ready 'Soul Blossom' has been released and I haven't even sewn up any 'Love' collection yet! How will I ever keep up considering I still haven't even quilted the 'Midwest Modern' quilt I made.

I just love the craft industry so much, it always makes me feel warm and happy inside and keeps my mind wandering. I finally picked out the pattern to use up my 'Love' fabrics. I just totally adore the colours of this room and it makes me want to redecorate! This pattern looks relatively easy and is a free download from Amy's website.

Don't you just love those gorgeous cushions on the couch plus the floor pillows?

I have cut out the Amy Butler Weekender Bag pattern and am up to sewing my piping. While checking Amy's site I came across the bag made up in the fabric I have chosen. I wish I had seen this earlier because I really love the fabric they have chosen for the piping, handles. I am using the green dot which will still look nice but I think I like this combo better. So here is what I hope my bag will turn out like:

Amy has just released another NEW sewing pattern, the 'Sandalwood Jacket' I just love this and would love to make this up also. We haven't got this in yet but it is still to come. Isn't the bag just gorgeous that she is holding?

I also love the pom pom trim around the cushions, we sell several colours and 2 sizes of this at the store.

Next week I'll take some photos at the bag class so you can see how all the different Amy Butler bags are coming along.

Amy Butler's NEW Soul Blossom

Hello everyone,

I was lucky enough to preview Amy Butler's new Soul Blossom range on Monday that will be out later in the year. Its absolutely gorgeous! She has also come out with 2 new patterns 'Adult' and 'Child's' raincoat made from her laminated fabrics.

Block of the Month

Hello everyone!

I wanted to share with you the 'Block of the Month' we have in store at the moment. This will make up a stunning quilt made up of applique using a beautiful array of colours from Batiks.

This BOM (block of the month) is called 'Back on the Farm' and designed by McKenna Ryan.

The BOM's are great as they allow you to purchase each block monthly as you can afford it plus give you ample time to make up the block before the next one comes. Once all your blocks are complete, simply sew the blocks together add a border and your quilt is finished. The other great advantage is all the time of choosing colours and fabrics has been taken away from you as each kit comes complete with the pattern and fabrics so all the hard work of choosing is done!

Exciting Amy Butler Bag Class

Hello everyone!

Our very own talented Tutor Liz Emtage has been busy working on a sample of an awesome Amy Butler overnight bag. This bag is fantastic made up in some of Amy's canvas fabrics, has sturdy carry handles and several pockets etc to store you items.

Amy's Weekender Travel Bag is the perfect carry-all bag for your next getaway!

We planning to start this class on our regular Wednesday evening slot from 7pm to 9pm. You will work on this bag over a few weeks at a low cost of $20 each week plus materials. You initial class will be at a cost of $60 which includes your own Amy Butler official pattern.

We already have a few ladies interested in starting the bag so once we get a few more we can start. To register your interest or book can you please email scrapbookstudio@xtra.co.nz or phone the shop on 09 5703200.

A New Look!

Welcome everybody to our 'new look' blog! We have moved on over from our older Blog HERE and decided it was time to have a quicker, easier URL name.

As you can see on the older blog its been a long time since we've posted or updated. Our store has so many more fabrics and patterns etc now that its really time to keep you all up to date on what's going on and all our new goodies that just keep on coming in.

Well its that time of year again to get those winter woollies out! Those that know me will know that I have recently moved down to Hamilton from Auckland and the weather is certainly a lot colder down here. We have a great range of gorgeous designer flannels to warm you up plus some cute ones for the kids. Included in the designs are flannels from Amy Butler and Valori Wells. So get out those PJ patterns and start sewing!

Amy Butler has a couple of stunning new patterns out showing off her new 'Love' colour story. We also have a good range of her Love collection including quilting cottons, flannels, canvas weight and laminated fabrics.

 Sewing Classes

If anybody is interested in sewing classes to learn how to make a quilt, bag, pillows, homeware, clothing etc we have the talented Liz Emtage working for us. Classes are held on a Wednesday evening from 7pm til 9pm. The classes are a cost of $20 Tutor fee plus materials. Simply phone 09 5703200 or email scrapbookstudio@xtra.co.nz to book. This is an ongoing course night providing we get enough attendees each week.

Accuquilt Studio 

Have you heard? We are lucky enough to own a Accuquilt Studio Cutter plus Accuquilt Go Cutter complete with several cutting dies in store. We have these machines & dies for hire at a cost of $14 per half hour. With these machines you can cut your own custom made jelly rolls, charm squares, applique shapes, basic shapes for your quilts. These machines cut your cutting time right down and cuts them accurately with very little wastage.

Because we have this machine we also have some custom made Jelly Rolls instore like this one for example using some of the Nicey Jane Collection.

 

 

Another stunning range we finally got in after waiting since January are the bolts for Moda's 'Blush' by Basic Grey. We had this range in paper for Scrapbooking a couple of years back and we as very popular collection. The fabrics are just gorgeous, the layer cakes, charm squares and jelly rolls went out the door back in February so we have custom made some more Jelly Rolls if anybody is interested.

The Tanya Whelan bag patterns have been turning over very quickly so we just ordered a top up. We also have good range of her fabrics in store also.
